Your Department of Public Works is committed to responding to the needs of our community by providing the public systems necessary to create, enhance and protect the quality of life that is uniquely St. Helena.¬† Guided by the values of our citizens and supporting the vision they hold for their community we design, build, operate, maintain, clean, green, and improve the city's infrastructure, public rights-of-way, and facilities with skill, pride, and responsiveness, in partnership with the St. Helena community.
The Department is responsible for the City's infrastructure, including streets, storm drains, parks, water treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection, and wastewater treatment.¬† We facilitate environmental compliance including;¬†storm water pollution prevention, sustainability, protection of public trees and floodplain administration. In addition, the Department of Public Works is a key responding agency in emergencies involving our infrastructure as well as weather and other disasters with the potential for adverse impacts to public health or the environment.
